Nothing is as relaxing as a hot bath. Sure, it gets you clean, and gives you some “me” time, but did you know that by adding Epsom salts to your bath will soften your skin, could smooth out wrinkles and improve your body’s metabolic function?

Yep! Epsom bath salts are made from Magnesium Sulfate, two minerals that play an important part in how our bodies work.

How Epsom Salts Work

Magnesium is important in that regulates enzyme activity in your body, and it helps your bodily functions to run smoothly. Did you know that more than half of all Americans have a magnesium deficiency, which is believed to be a factor in all kinds of health problems? Sulfate is also important in the way in which your body works: Its job is in the formation of brain tissue and joint proteins, and it can strengthen the walls of the digestive tract.

Epsom bath salts will also help to detoxify your body – something we all need these days with all of the “junk” we seem to soak up just walking around.

Soaking in bath salts is the recommended way to get these two compounds into as they are easily absorbed through the skin.

Luxury bath salts are easy to make at home.

Lavender relaxes the body, while something like peppermint will perk you up.
